Disagreements in the Senate over abolition of Vehicle Ownership Tax.

MEXICO CITY, Mar 28, 2003 (El Economista/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- The National Action Party (PAN) proposal presented in the Senate to repeal the Tax on Vehicle Ownership and Usage was not supported by the whole PAN bloc and the senators were also accused by the leaders of the Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) and the Institutional Revolution Party (PRI) of "electoral opportunism".Diego Fernandez de Cevallos, PAN coordinator in the Senate, said the bill was not supported because of the negative economic consequences for the country caused by the loss of small, but important income for the states.Fauzi Hamdan, president of the Treasury Commission in the Senate, said the idea was not bad but the bill's proponents are not offering any tax...
