Congress to ask ASF to investigate Del Monte deal.

MEXICO CITY, May 23, 2003 (El Economista/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- The Permanent Commission of Congress will ask the Supreme Auditor of the Federation (ASF) to investigate the terms surrounding the sale of Del Monte to see if fraud played a role in the transaction. The proposal was presented this week by Democratic Revolution Party (PRD) Deputy David Sotelo Rosas, who questioned the sale of a company valued at US$270 million for real capital of US$25 million."It is evident that the Mexican federal government lost a magnificent opportunity to sell Mexican agricultural products in getting rid of Fresh Del Monte Produce," he said.
