KCS receives permission to absorb TFM.

MEXICO CITY, Jun 27, 2003 (El Universal/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- The Federal Competition Commission (CFC) has given permission to Kansas City Southern (KCS) to absorb Transportacion Ferroviaria Mexicana (TFM). According to the U.S. firm, the CFC gave official notification Thursday approving the creation of NAFTA Rail, which will be the largest rail company on the continent."After a detailed revision of the proposal," said William Galligan, spokesman for Kansas City Southern, "the commission found that NAFTA Rail fulfills all of the competitivity regulations in Mexico and does not impede free competition in the transport sector in any way."
