Mexico, developing countries were losers in WTO breakdown, EU official says.

MEXICO CITY, Sep 17, 2003 (Diario de Yucatan/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- The European Trade Commissioner said Tuesday that the developing countries stand to lose more from the breakdown of talks at the World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting than the developed nations.
"Cancun was a lost opportunity," said Pascal Lamy in Brussels, Belgium. He especially criticized the inflexibility of the developing countries, saying that the European Union "had put a lot on the table regarding agriculture," such as eliminating subsidies on certain exported goods.
