Consumer credit up 43% for Visa Mexico in Jan-Feb.

MEXICO CITY, Mar 18, 2004 (Mexico Analytica/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Visa Mexico said that the 43% growth in consumer credit during January and February allows the company to predict a double-digit increase in business this year.

The company is also expected to issue some 3 million new credit and debit cards domestically to bring the total number of cards on the market up to 45 million, said Fernando Nieto, president of the company in Mexico.

Nieto added that improved economic conditions, in addition to the company offering new products and services, will further improve the company's situation. During 2004, it plans to focus on the low-income segment of the population that is currently neglected.
