Tourism industry: Fonatur must offer credit again.

MEXICO CITY, Aug 27, 2004 (El Universal/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Businesspeople in the tourism industry urged the National Fund to Promote Tourism (Fonatur) to become a major financer again for large-scale projects and to seek more ways of attracting foreign capital, as well as to obtain more authority to regulate the local industry.
Gaston Azcarraga, president of Grupo Posadas, said that Fonatur must become the financial organization it was 30 years ago when it was created, so that more tourism projects can start to take off. Felipe Ochoa Rosso, former director of Fonatur, reiterated that the fund must be granted more freedom to look for capital at global level.
