CAF and Alstom ready to compete for Suburban Train contract.

MEXICO CITY, Mar 04, 2005 (El Economista/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Spanish company CAF and French Alstom have been certified by the Transportation and Communications Secretariat (SCT) to participate in the project of the Suburban Railroad of the Metropolitan Zone of the Valley of Mexico, which will run from Buenavista in Mexico City to Cuautitlan Izcalli in Estado of Mexico.Aaron Dychter Poltolarek, undersecretary of Transportation at the SCT, said that the first stage of the project will cover a distance of 27 kilometers through seven stations with an investment of US$600 million.The official said that CAF and Alstom are already qualified participants and they would have until April 27 to create their consortia.
