ISO Certifications Are on the Rise.

The number of companies receiving ISO 9000 and ISO 14000 certification increased last year. By the end of 1999, 343,643 certificates for ISO 9000 quality systems were issued, a 26% increase from the previous year, according to the International Organization of Standards. ISO 14000 certificates for environmental management systems increased 79% during 1999, for a total of 14,106.
Australia received the most ISO 9000 certificates during 1999 with 8,663. The United States received 8,067 and China received 6,864. Japan has the largest number of ISO 14000 certificates issued last year with 1,473. Britain followed with 571, and Sweden received 547.
