FDIC links to website on identity theft

Bank News, June, 2007 by Anonymous

A direct link to the new, centralized government website on identity theft will be provided by the FDIC.

The new site, www.idtheft.gov, was launched April 23. Initially, the site will provide the Identity Theft Task Force's Strategic Plan, which represents the input of 17 federal agencies, including the FDIC, and sets out recommendations to prevent identity theft, to assist identity theft victims in recovering from those crimes and to prosecute and punish identity theftrelated criminals. The task force was created on May 10, 2006, by Executive Order to strengdien federal efforts to protect against identity theft.

For more information on the site, visit either www.idtheft.gov or www. fdic.gov.
