At the opening general session of the 121st Annual Iowa Bankers Association Convention in Des Moines Sept. 16-18, IBA Chairman Dan Rrieger, chairman and president of Ames National Corp., highlighted the threats the banking industry has succeeded in thwarting during the past year, such as the Credit Union Regulatory Improvement Act and the Farm Credit System's HORIZONS Project. But he asked the banking community to remain vigilant because CURIA is being lobbied once again and the Senate could reinstate the HORIZONS Project into the Farm Bill.
