Car Maker Cautions Costs Slow EV Progress.(DaimlerChrysler)(Brief Article)

Cost must fall before DaimlerChrysler (1000 Chrysler Dr., Auburn Hills, MI 48326-2766; Tel: 248/512-2678, Fax: 248/512-3003) can sell significant numbers of fuel-cell-powered vehicles, according to officials with the automaker. In two years, they will have fuel-cell buses on the market, and the first fuel-cell passenger cars will roll in four years, according to DaimlerChrysler Board of Management Chairman Juergen Schrempp, in a speech at World Engineers Day in Hanover.
