Team Unveils Gasoline Processor.(Brief Article)

General Motors Corp. (3044 W. Grand Blvd., Detroit, MI 48202; Tel: 810/986-6285) and Exxon Mobil Corp. (Exxon Research and Engineering Co., Fuel for Electric Vehicles Program, Rte. 22, East Anandale, NJ 08801; Tel: 908/474-6229) have developed an efficient gasoline fuel processor for fuel cell vehicles. The companies say the processor will lead to greatly reduced emissions and improved fuel economy. GM plans a vehicle demonstration using the technology within 17 months.

The processor uses gasoline as a fuel to create a high-quality stream of hydrogen that powers a fuel cell.
