TransGuide, an Intelligent Transportation System, designed by the San Antonio District of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) is testing a propane-powered PEM fuel cell. This "smart highway" project provides information to motorists about traffic conditions, such as accidents, congestion and construction. TransGuide has installed a Plug Power fuel cell and a HyRadix Inc. propane reformer that will provide four to five kilowatts of electricity. The system will power a portion of the central panel of the TransGuide Intelligent Transportation System video wall.
