TRANSPORTATION: GM/Shell to Bring FC Cars to New York.(General Motors Corp)(Shell Oil Co)

GM and Shell have formed an alliance to bring fuel cell cars and filling stations to New York City by 2006. GM will provide 13 fuel cell vehicles and Shell Hydrogen will build the city's first hydrogen refueling station by installing a hydrogen module at an existing Shell gas station.

The New York FC vehicles will comprise a fleet of 40 that GM is building for distribution to select areas of the U.S. Besides New York, GM announced plans to increase the number of vehicles in the Washington, D.C. area, introduce vehicles in California, and provide vehicles in Detroit.

On its part, Shell will build two refueling stations in California and another that will be located between New York and Washington, D.C. The Shell module is apparently being produced by...
