PEM: Japanese Firms Plan for FC Deployment.

Several Japanese companies have established operational units for deploying a first generation of commercial fuel cells for residential use. The list of companies includes: Cosmo Oil, Iwatani Industries, Nippon Oil, Idemitsu Kosan and Corona, Toshiba, and a collaboration of Tokyo Gas, Matsushita Electric Industrial and Ebara Ballard. Several of the companies are using fuel cells from Toshiba Fuel Cell Systems (Toshiba Building 30F, 1-1, Shibaura 1-chome, Minato-ku, Tokyo 105-8001; Tel: 81-3-3457- 3622; www.toshiba.co.jp).
