TRANSPORTATION: Ballard to Supply Cellex with Fork Lift FCs.

Ballard Power Systems (Ballard Power Systems (Charles Stone, Vice President, Research and Development, 4343 North Fraser Way, Burnaby, BC V5J 5J9, Canada; Tel: 604/454-0900; www.cellexpower.com) will incorporate the stacks into power units that will be used in field trials of fuel cell-powered forklifts. Cellex recently completed alpha trials with fuel cell-powered forklifts at a Wal-mart distributorship.
The new power units will replace lead-acid battery packs that are presently used in the forklifts serving high throughput distribution centers.
The fourth-generation Mark 902 stacks can be combined in configurations with outputs ranging from 4 kW to 21 kW at DC voltages ranging from 16 V to 70 V, respectively, at 300 A. The 4 kW stack has a mass of...
