TRANSPORTATION DaimlerChrysler Gets 97 MPG.

DaimlerChrysler's (Chrysler Group, 1000 Chrysler Drive, Auburn Hills, Michigan 48326-2766; Tel: 248/576 5741) latest fuel cell vehicle, the F600 Hygenius, which was unveiled at the Tokyo Motor Show, has achieved an average of 97 miles per gallon (mpg). The F600 fuel cell, itself about 40 percent smaller than previously developed, has an output of 115 hp (85kW) and a 258 lb-ft torque.

Its operating range is over 250 miles. The Hygenuis will be in production between 2012 and 2015. The F600, with a design and bodywork expressly for the fuel cell, houses the drive train, compressed hydrogen storage tank, and high voltage lithium-ion battery beneath the passenger cell.
