PROJECT OVERVIEW:
PETROMA REFINING & MARKETING CO. of Saudi Arabia is finally moving ahead with its long-stalled plans to build a new refinery and associated petrochemical complex, at Hidd, in Bahrain. In so doing, the company recently awarded a project management contract to U.S.-based PARSONS ENGINEERING CORP., a subsidiary of PARSONS CORP.
According to the terms of the award, PARSONS will be responsible for the provision of consultancy, engineering and construction management services. Another American firm, the HUTCHISON GROUP is also reportedly participating in the consortium to develop the project.
Construction plans under consideration call for building a refinery with an installed production capacity of 500,000 barrels per day. The...
