PROJECT OVERVIEW

An Emirates/Singaporean joint venture recently signed an agreement regarding the development of the Fujairah power and water desalination complex. The partners in the planned undertaking include the local ABU DHABI WATER & ELECTRICITY AUTHORITY (ADWEA) and SEMBCORP. of Singapore.

According to the terms of the agreement, SEMBCORP will acquire a 40% stake in the project. The undertaking involves the expansion of the existing 625 Mw power station and the water desalination unit with a capacity of 100 million gallons per day.

The cost to complete the upgrade project has been estimated at about $1,740,000,000.

ADWEA is responsible for the generation and transmission of electricity as well as water desalination....
