Nat'l Geographic Society bullish on newsletters.

Newsletter on Newsletters, The, February, 2002

The National Geographic Society recently launched a print newsletter, National Geographic Bird Watcher, targeted to "the 63 million Americans who passionately search for and photograph birds."

The new publication (6x, $24/year) will feature "birding tips, conservation articles, maps, art, photographs, reviews of books and gear, and craft projects, such as how to build feeders and birdhouses."

The Society has also made a significant move to expand its online newsletter offerings by outsourcing its e-mail newsletters and much of its e-mail marketing to Topica Inc.
