Latest battle in long war over magazine's protection of a word

The U.S. Patent Office granted a trademark on the word entrepreneur to Entrepreneur Media Inc., publisher of Entrepreneur magazine, in 1982, before it became today's common word. The company has aggressively protected its trademark, suing and threatening to sue a number of newsletters, magazines and academic journals using the word entrepreneur in publication titles.

Some publishers changed titles to avoid litigation. Female Entrepreneur became Fempreneur. Young Entrepreneur changed its name to Y & E.
