INTERNATIONAL BRIEFS: PETROBRAS STUDYING ETHANOL IMPACT ON CO2

Brussels - Brazil's Petrobras is carrying out a study to see what impact ethanol blending in the country is having on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions, a company executive revealed at the Hart World Fuels Conference here recently.

All gasoline sold in Brazil contains around 22% ethanol produced from sugarcane, but as of yet, a study has not been carried out to see what effect such high oxygenate use is having on CO2 emissions, said Andre Fachetti, Petrobras' fuels technology manager. That study is now underway.
