BROIN DROPPING ETHANOL ENZYME LAWSUIT AGAINST GENENCOR

The Broin Companies, an ethanol technology development company based in South Dakota, announced last week it is dropping its 2004 lawsuit against Genencor International, which it accused of unfairly using trade secrets to gain a competitive edge.

Both companies agreed not to disclose details pertaining to the dismissal.

The civil lawsuit alleged misuse of Broin's confidential and proprietary information surrounding its patent-pending "Broin Project X (BPX)" technology, related to granular starch hydrolyzing enzymes for the ethanol industry (see RFN, 1/31/05, p1).
