BP ANNOUNCES PLAN TO MEET HALF OF AUSTRALIA'S BIOFUELS TARGET

Renewable Fuel News, April, 2006 by Anonymous

BP intends to increase the company's production of biofuels in Australia to more than 200 million liters (53 million gallons) per year by 2008. That is more half of the 350 million liters (92 million gallons) per year by 2010 the Australian government has targeted.

BP will produce 110 million liters (29 million gallons) annually of biodiesel from tallow at its Queensland refinery by next year and will also purchase 23 million liters (6 million gallons) of ethanol from Australian sugar producer CSR. BP will buy about 80 million liters (21 million gallons) from a wheat-based ethanol plant in Kwinana owned by Primary Energy starting in 2008.
