Asian Development Bank to Conduct Energy Policy Study

Asian Development Bank (ADB) has announced it plans to study its energy policy as it looks for ways to promote clean energy usage and energy security in the region.

The study will be funded by a $1 million technical assistance grant and will address environmental risk and incentives, promoting participation from the private sector and increasing renewable energy, energy efficiency and demand side management, ADB said.

The bank wants to develop as new strategy to "guide energy sector operations for the next five years" due to the effects of Asia's energy consumption on the environment and the financial positions of some the region's developing economies.
