Husky Opens Wheat-based Ethanol Plant in Saskatchewan

Renewable Fuel News, October, 2006 by Ngo, Peter

Husky Energy opened its second ethanol production plant last week, with the 34 million gallon facility purporting to be the largest ethanol plant in western Canada.

The Saskatchewan plant is in the midst of start-up but has begun producing ethanol, according to Graham White, Husky's senior communications advisor. Full operation is expected later this month.

The facility will take in about 13 million bushels of locally grown wheat annually.

Last week, Husky announced the official opening of the Tucker Oil Sands Project in a ribbon cutting ceremony at the facility site near Cold Lake, Alberta. The Tucker Oil Sands Project is the first in Husky's portfolio of oil sands assets, the company says.
