Yahoo has launched a new version of its instant messenger service, giving broadband conectees a far better frame update rate for their Webcams.
While the previous Yahoo messenger used a frame rate of one per second, the new version operates at 20 frames per second, close to the movie and television standard of 24 per second. The improvement is aimed at those with broadband connections.
The new service has been launched in an effort to distinguish Yahoo from rivals America Online and Microsoft, who have far larger usership in the United States. While Yahoo Messenger carries 16.7 per cent of home and work subscribers, AOL has 28.3 per cent, and MSN...
