The new model digital video recorder (DVR) ReplayTV will be stripped of its ad-skipping and programme exchange features, according to owner, D&M Holdings.

The specification for the ReplayTV 5500 series, due in August, seems an attempt to appease major media broadcasters such as Viacom, who reacted angrily to the 'Commercial Advance' and 'Send Show' features of the ReplayTV 4000 model, launched in 2001.
