Northeast Pennsylvania Business Journal, Mar 01, 2007 by Nardone, Ralph
Nadine Marranca is vice president and senior banking operations officer for Fidelity Deposit and Discount Bank, Scranton. There she oversees the latest in banking technology and directs the daily operations of the bank.
Her responsibilities include maintaining the operations of bank data processing, information technology, imaging services and electronic banking. She also oversees loan and deposit operations. "I take great pride in seeing results that can be achieved through team work," she says.
She is thankful for the education she received at King's College in Wilkes-Barre pointing out it has an "excellent information systems program" where she earned her bachelor of science degree. She also earned a master's of business at Marywood University.
Marranca interviewed with several leading edge companies such as International Business Machines (IBM) after graduating from college. She saw the opportunity offered to her by the president of Fidelity Bank as the best way to become entrenched in all facets of banking technology and business management.
During her time there she has guided Fidelity Bank through major advances in technology as well as opening nine new branches. She believes she would not have received better opportunities for leadership and accomplishment than she has at Fidelity Bank. She points to the support she received throughout her career as they fostered her quest for knowledge and desire to help the bank grow.
Although her schedule demands significant amounts of time, she finds time to give back to the community. Recently, she participated in the Leadership Lackawanna program where she was part of a group that designed a way-finding system for Scranton's downtown which is erected in front of the courthouse. She is also on the board of junior Achievement of Northeast Pennsylvania.
Future professionals need to focus on education. "Education is key in today's competitive world," she notes. In her case, the degree at King's and master's from Marywood helped strengthen her success foundation and confidence. She says self-confidence is very important and that successes are only possible by learnmg from your failures.
Her daughters Jacqueline and Taylor provide her daily motivation. Her large family, mother and dime sisters, possess "unsurpassed" family values and are there for her whenever she needs them to help her balance her professional and private lives.
