USPS Wants PRC To Reconsider Mail Rates.(Postal Rate Commission rate increase protested by Board of Governors; non-profit organizations fear general rate increases)(Brief Article)

The United States Postal Service Board of Governors is implementing, under protest, the rates proposed recently by the Postal Rate Commission (PRC). The PRC was asked to look over the new rates again. Nonprofit mailers raised eyebrows at what may be possibly open-ended rate increases scheduled for Jan. 7 deployment.

Lee Cassidy, executive director, DMA Nonprofit Federation, said he is concerned that "the Board of Governors does not understand the frustrations of mailers -- especially by saying 'We are in need of money and we are going to put these new rates into effect in a month.' That is an inadequate time to prepare."
