Sal Army, White House In Anti-Gay Employment Flap.(Salvation Army and federal hiring policies)(Brief Article)

Both the White House and the Salvation Army are trying to diffuse accusations of the administration considering an exemption for the organization from local laws that bar discrimination in hiring homosexuals.

The organization was reportedly going to support the administration's faith-based initiative legislation "simultaneously with efforts to achieve the army's objectives," according to The Washington Post's publication of an internal SA document. "The White House has already said that they are committed to move on the army's objectives when the legislation carrying the charitable choice provisions passes the House of Representatives."
