Business or coach?

Like millions of Canadian boys before him, Adam Shell grew up dreaming of a career in hockey. But unlike other hopefuls, he set his sights on the sidelines instead of centre ice. "From the beginning, I wanted to be a coach," says the CA from Thornhill, Ont., whose long-term goal is a coaching position in the National Hockey League.
Only 27, he might be on his way - last June, Shell was named head coach of the Royal Military College Paladins of the Ontario University Athletics League. It's not a sure path to the NHL, but it's not an unfamiliar route - current NHL coaches Mike Babcock of the Detroit Red Wings and Mike Keenan of the Calgary Flames both coached in the university ranks early in their careers.
