Telecommunications Mergers & Acquisitions, June, 2007 by Anonymous

France-based conglomerate Vivendi has dismissed rumors that it has offered to purchase Vodafone's 44 percent holding stake in its cellular subsidiary, SFR. Vivendi said in its statement that the company denies all rumors which suggested that the company had made an offer to buy Vodafone's 44 percent stake in SFR. French newspaper Les Echos had previously suggested that Vivendi's former finance director, Jacques Espinasse, had stated in March that his group has made an informal offer of $20 million for buying Vodafone's stake.

The current finance director of Vivendi, Philippe Capron, has stated that the company is ready to hold talks regarding the buyout of Vodafone's shares in SFR.
