NASCAR files case against AT&T for $100 million

NASCAR has filed a suit worth $100 million against AT&T, alleging that the mobile operator has interfered with its exclusive sponsorship deal with wireless firm Nextel. It has also sought the right to throw out AT&T and all other telecom firms except Nextel from its "top series" to be held in 2008.

NASCAR filed the case in US District Court in Atlanta and accused AT&T of fraud, misrepresentation, and breach of contract. The two parties have been involved in legal battle for the whole season. NASCAR has refused to permit AT&T to place its logos on the car of Jeff Burton, who, along with his Richard Childress Racing team, has signed a sponsorship deal with Cingular, which was bought by AT&T.
