Idaho State University, U.S. Agency for International Development Help Score Victory for Guatemalan Indigenous Peoples' Rights.

POCATELLO, Idaho, Feb. 27 (AScribe Newswire) -- The Idaho State University anthropology department and the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) have helped the Guatemalan Mayan group, the Q'eqchi', achieve a "historic triumph for indigenous people's rights and community conservation," reports ISU anthropology department chair Dr. Anthony Stocks.

Last fall, the Guatemalan Ministry of Culture and Sports granted two Q'eqchi' Maya communities the right to manage Guatemala's Candelaria Caves National Patrimony, an archaeological and scenic resource that has the potential to become a World Heritage Site, according to Stocks.
