WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind., Sept. 8 (AScribe Newswire) -- James Madison. Alexander Hamilton. Freedom of speech, religion and assembly. The separation of powers. Most would agree these are historical figures and basic concepts with which every American should be familiar.
But Phillip VanFossen, an associate professor of social studies education in Purdue's College of Education and director of the James F. Ackerman Center for Democratic Citizenship, says unfortunately, that's not necessarily the case.
