Holy Names University Students to Join Protest Against U.S. Army's School of the Americas at Fort Benning, Ga.

OAKLAND, Calif., Nov. 1 (AScribe Newswire) -- Five students from Holy Names University will join thousands from across the nation Nov. 16-19 at Fort Benning, Ga., to demand a dramatic shift in U.S. foreign policy and the closure of the controversial U.S. Army's School of the Americas (SOA).

"Despite an appalling human rights record, this school continues to operate with US taxpayer funding," said Joseph O'Neill, a senior at HNU, who will be traveling to Ft. Benning. "Closing the SOA would send a strong human rights message to Latin America and the world."
