Dai Nippon Printing Company Ltd (DNP) has developed a contactless smart card compatible with FeliCa technology, which can be embossed over four-lines.

There has been an increased need for a single card mounted with multiple functions, in line with the progress in smart card technology and an expansion in the market. One example is the mounting of contact and contactless chips on company IDs, processing them with a magnetic stripe and embossing, then using the contact integrated circuit (IC) chip for public key infrastructure (PKI) based network-identification, the contactless chip for electronic money purposes or to check entry and exit from specific areas, and the magnetic stripe along with the embossing as an international brand-name credit card.
