Honda Tsushin exploits chaos theory for flame effect.(Optoelectronics)

Honda Tsushin Kogyo Co Ltd and toy developer Chaotic Toys Factory Ltd have jointly developed a lamp that uses chaos theory to provide illumination reminiscent of a fire.

The Yuragi lamp has a built-in illumination sensor that causes the light from the lamp to flicker and disperse like a burning candle. The illumination itself is generated using LEDs (light-emitting diodes).

Three lamps with blue, yellow and red lighting have been sold via interior goods stores for [yen] 30 000 ($283) apiece from February onwards.
