An artist can't resist the appeal of a blank canvas, Likewise, when the Department of Energy announced its Sun Wall National Solar Design Competition in March 2000, few architects and designers were able to refuse the allure of creating a solar masterpiece on the south-facing wall of the DOE's Forrestal headquarters building in Washington, DC.
