Eastman Kodak, Lockheed Martin and AIIM International launched an interactive web site (www.digitalpreservation.org) dedicated to providing information and resources for the digital preservation marketplace.
As defined by the participants, digital preservation is a methodology, using many technologies, that assures future access to digitally generated and paper documents. It provides a long-term solution for keeping information accessible regardless of technological changes in hardware, software, systems and media. Although the concept is media-independent, it is expected microfilm will have a significant role in storage and retrieval from web-based systems.
