PROJECT OVERVIEW:
The local KAMAZ recently awarded a plant construction contract to a Japanese joint venture that teams-up KANEMATSU CORP. and MITSUBISHI HEAVY INDUSTRIES LTD. (MHI). According to the terms of the award, the partnership will be responsible for building a truck engine factory. The planned facility will have an installed production capacity of 80,000 engines per year. The latter will reportedly conform to the EUROPEAN UNION's emission standards.
The cost to complete the complex has been pegged at $138,000,000. And, some 85% of project funding is expected to come from the JAPAN BANK FOR INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION.
