Users of major online vendors like Dialog, LexisNexis and Dow Jones Interactive/Factiva know that not only do these services regularly add new files but they remove them as well. There are many reasons why a database may be removed from an online service. The database creator may have ceased publication, usage may be too low or there may have been some contractual dispute or other problem between the database publisher and the online service.
