Dell targets field workers with toughened laptop computer

Troubled hardware giant Dell is setting its sights on the field service industry with the launch of its first toughened laptop computer for those users who need to stray a little further away from the safe office environment than most.
The Latitude ATG - or All Terrain Grade - is described by Dell as a semi-ruggedised device and comes equipped with shock mounted hard drives and screen, splash and dust-proof keyboard, as well as port covers to protect vulnerable interface connections. Wireless connectivity is standard and Dell has paid special attention to the screen, ensuring that even in bright daylight the display remains legible, while at night, in-built worklights illuminate the keyboard.
