Japanese carrier selects Juniper Networks ERX Edge Router for Metro Ethernet services. (Business).

Juniper Networks and Chugoku Information System Service Co. Inc. (CIS), announced the deployment of Juniper Networks ERX Edge Routers in the CIS "MEGA Energia Global Gateway (EGG)" Metro Ethernet network. The ERX router enables CIS, the telecommunication arm of Chugoku Electric Power, to deliver high-speed Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) services to its residential customers throughout the Chugoku region.

According to IDC Japan, Japanese FTTH subscriptions are expected to achieve a cumulative annual growth rate of 166 percent by the end of 2005. CIS plans to leverage the increased demand by offering Ethernet-based broadband connectivity to its subscribers at speeds of 100Mbps.
