Professional photographers doing their own in-studio work are using the latest large-format pigment inkjet printers. Companies such as HP, Epson and Canon have introduced newer models within the last year, and they say they are seeing an increase in demand.

"We have seen demand go up because users are spending more on digital cameras," a spokesperson from Epson America Inc., Long Beach, Calif., tells PMA magazine. "'They are also realizing the camera is only part of the equation and, even with a topnotch camera, they need an equally high-performance printer."

At PMA 2006 earlier this year in Orlando, Fla., Canon U.S.A. Inc., Lake Success, N.Y., introduced the imagePROGRAF iPF5000.
