Lawyers urge caution as SEC acts on Enron

International Financial Law Review, March, 2002 by Anonymous

US lawyers have given a cautious welcome to the US Securities & Exchange Commission's plans to radically reform corporate disclosure rules in the wake of the Enron affair. If enacted, the proposals will significantly shorten the amount of time companies have to file their quarterly and annual reports and alter rules that have not changed in the last 30 years.

While most lawyers in New York are enthusiastic about the moves towards making more frequent disclosure a requirement, some are warning against knee-jerk reactions from the regulator. Copyright Euromoney Institutional Investor PLC Mar 2002
