Key National Indicator Systems: An Opportunity to Assess National Progress, Improve Performance and Strengthen Accountability

Significant efforts are under way around the world to develop comprehensive key indicator systems for communities, cities, states and nations. Last fall, the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) invited more than 500 experts from 43 countries to a conference in Palermo, Italy, to share their knowledge, experience and ideas about developing key national indicator systems.
