Sofa approves Bullivant's radical new business plan.

SOFA is going head-to-head with rival body the LIA in its push to turn the industry into a profession.

Last week the board of the Society of Financial Advisers approved a new business plan by Bob Bullivant, managing director of Sofa.

Sofa intends to set demanding targets in a number of key areas which are designed to be the first step toward its vision of achieving professional status for financial advisers.

This comes after the LIA announced it was hardening its approach with a new regime to change itself from being a membership body to a professional association.

Sofa has followed with a detailed plan to overhaul each department. The process is to be completed by the end of 2005.
