NU to keep UK call jobs amid Aviva shift.

NORWICH Union has sought to reassure advisers that it has no plans to take its intermediary support call centre operation overseas.

Last week the life office's parent company Aviva said it would be offshoring a total of 7000 call centre jobs from the UK to India by the end of 2007.

Mike Kirsch, operations director of Norwich Union, said its 200-strong adviser support call centre team would remain in the UK, although about 760 of the offshore roles would be back office-based life and pensions and general insurance administration roles.

He said some policyholder calls would be handled in India but most would not.
